The Lead Blackpool Project has been developed by Star Institute on behalf of the Blackpool School Improvement Board and is supported by the DfE’s Strategic School Improvement Fund. It involves a collaborative partnership of the four teaching school alliances active in Blackpool, the Research School, Multi-Academy trusts, the local authority and the Blackpool Opportunity Area Board and over its lifetime aims to engage with and support all Blackpool schools.

This project aims to support the strong progress being made in Blackpool’s schools providing a wide range of tailored leadership learning experiences in order to support the development of the knowledge and skills to drive improvement.

WHO IS THE PROJECT AIMED AT?

Learning activities provided within the Lead Blackpool project are suitable for aspiring and serving middle and senior leaders and governors in Blackpool schools and academies.

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

There are three core strands within the Lead Blackpool project:

  • Strengthening Leadership Modules – standalone leadership learning modules that tackle the key challenges facing schools within Blackpool.

  • Strengthening Leadership Experiences – development opportunities for leaders to deepen their learning in other school contexts, including in successful schools outside Blackpool.

  • Strengthening Governance – leadership development, collaborative learning and networking opportunities for governors.

LOCATION

The majority of the Lead Blackpool programmes and activities take place within Blackpool. In some cases, Blackpool leaders will have the opportunity to visit schools in other North West towns and cities.

COST

Lead Blackpool is a fully funded project. All elements of the project are free for aspiring and serving middle and senior leaders employed within Blackpool schools. Funding for cover is also available.
