We’re committed to supporting the next generation of teachers through our Star Teachers programme, which offers 3 routes into teaching including our Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship.

The Star Institute Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship is a twelve-month programme that runs from September to September and leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) whilst remaining in paid employment in school. Apprentices can specialise in primary teaching or a specific subject at secondary level. Our blended learning approach combines in-school experience, centre-based training and online tuition.

Here are some examples of our apprentices’ stories.

Aysha’s experience as a learning mentor at The Olive School, Blackburn inspired her to gain her Qualified Teacher Status. Our Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship has enables Aysha to continue to work in a school she loves, while gaining the skills, training and qualification to become a primary teacher.
Our teaching apprenticeship has given Sue the perfect opportunity to retrain as a teacher. The former architect decided to achieve her Qualified Teacher Status after realising how much she loved working with children while working as a teaching assistant.
For Sara, the training she received through her Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship has been second to none. The hands-on experience she gained leading her own class, while receiving structured feedback and training, has been invaluable.
Rebecca has dreamt of becoming a teacher for more than ten years. She loves working in the classroom in her role as a teaching assistant, but when her school advertised a teaching apprenticeship with Star Institute she jumped at the chance to finally realise her dream.
Holly’s teaching apprenticeship with Star Institute enabled her to put her training into practice in the classroom. She has seen the benefits first-hand and she has become a more confident professional as a result.
